ANNOUNCING: CALL FOR EMERGING SCHOLAR SUBMISSIONS

Heterodox Economics Meets Law and Political Economy:

Examining Liberal Authoritarianism

October 26

9:00am - 5:30 pm ET

John Jay College of Criminal Justice

524 W 59th St, New York, NY 10019

At our Fall 2024 workshop, we seek to feature multi-disciplinary and intersectional emerging scholarship that teases out the complex relationships between politics, law, and economic systems. We welcome papers both on and beyond the general workshop theme of Liberal Authoritarianism.

Students and emerging scholars interested in presenting LPE informed analysis of foreign policy, imperialism, or more broadly on the role of governance and regulation should submit a 100 - 350 word abstract with titles by October 6.

We encourage proposals and projects at every stage of their development; completed papers not necessary at time of workshop. If you are unsure if your proposal fits submission guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact appeal@politicaleconomylaw.org.

In addition, this year the program will include a discussion activity based on question(s) developed by the organizers. Attendees will split into four groups, work on an answer to the question and then return to discuss their answers. We are seeking students and emerging scholars interested in being one of the discussion leaders. There will be multiple leaders per group and leaders will be expected to review a short reading list.

If you are interested in presenting (or attending), please note that while the workshop is free of charge and will include lunch and refreshments, we are not able to provide support for travel or lodging.
