APPEAL Discussion: The Legal Foundations of Micro-Institutional Performance: A Heterodox Law and Economics Approach, December 2, 2022

What if law and economics used human interdependence as the unit of analysis?  Or assumed that institutions pervasively structure individual decision-making?  And that evaluating economic consequences means deciding which conflicting interests count? Michigan State University economists Sarah Klammer and Eric Scorsone discussed their recent textbook, The Legal Foundations of Micro-Institutional Performance: A Heterodox Law and Economics Approach. Klammer and Scorsone bring fresh life to the “Great Lakes School” of law and institutional economics developed by Warren Samuels and Allan Schmid (among others). Mark Silverman, Franklin & Marshall College, offered comments based on his experience teaching undergraduate law and economics classes.
